A FORMER Sheriff of York has won a national award for a booklet he helped to produce.
Paul Milling, sheriff in 1987, accepted a Plain English Award in Liverpool as a trustee of a charity which works on behalf of traumatised children in Gaza.
The charity, Life In Palestine, tries to help the children of Gaza.
Mr Milling said: “We were asked to provide a self-help booklet for parents and social workers in Gaza and we thought the best starting point for translation into Arabic was to aim for the simplest and clearest language possible in the English version. It is for that reason that we are so pleased to have received this Plain English award – our small team worked hard to achieve simplicity and clarity.”
