10,000 expected at big cycle show

TEN thousand cyclists and visitors are expected at the York Cycle Show during National Bike Week.

The show, which started in 1946, is now one of the biggest national events for cyclists and one of the highlights in the UK cycling calendar.

It will take place on Knavesmire on June 25 and 26.

Paralympic gold medal cyclist David Stone will be attending and there witll be stunt shows vintage bike exhibitions, bike auctions and children’s entertainers.

A grand cycle parade will take place through York from the Minster after a special service for cyclists on the Sunday.

Paul Hepworth, chairman of the York Cycle Show committee, said: “We hope that by taking part in our Bike Week event, families will beat the credit crunch plus the health crunch.”
