FAMILIES in York are being offered the chance to take part in a festive cycling trip and receive an early Christmas gift from Santa.
The Christmas Cycle Ride will set off from the West End of York Minster at 9am on Saturday, December 4, and follow a mostly traffic-free route to Murton Park, which will be transformed into Santa’s village for the occasion.
Organised by the Cycling City York initiative, the event will see families tour the village, meet elves and take a ride on the Derwent Valley Light Railway, with children then receiving a gift. The ride is free, but admission to Santa’s village costs £5 for adults and £7 for children, with the return journey taking place between 12.30pm and 1pm.
Places must be booked no later than November 26 and booking forms and cycling health questionnaires are available by logging on to cyclingcityyork.org.uk and clicking on the “leisure” link.
