CYCLISTS in York are being encouraged to pick up new maps detailing the top places to pedal to around the city.
The latest guides, produced by Cycling City York, can be collected free of charge from tourist information points, libraries, City of York Council reception areas and other venues.
They will also be available at Cycling City York’s annual Festival of Cycling, which will be held at Rowntree Park this Saturday and Sunday.
The maps featured handwritten notes about facilities and places of interest, having been designed and tested by a group of local volunteers.
The first four guides came out last summer and the new ones cover routes from Dunnington to Stamford Bridge viaduct, around York’s bridges and riverside areas, the Foss Islands cycle track to the Farming Museum at Murton and from Millennium Bridge to Hob Moor and Acomb.
Robert Walker, Cycling City York marketing and events officer, said: “We had a fantastic response to the first four maps and received lots of positive feedback from people who’ve enjoyed using them to explore different areas of York.”
The community-led project also runs programmes of guided cycle rides, suitable for people of all ages and abilities, and the dates are available at cyclingcityyork.org.uk
