DID you survive Blue Monday?
Apparently the Monday just gone is “officially” the most depressing day of the year, as it marks the time when many of us are most fed up from that post-Christmas feeling of having spent too much.
Seemingly it’s the arrival of credit card bills, combined with the dreariness of the January weather and witnessing all those failed New Ye ar resolutions, that makes us all want to pull the duvet up over our heads and not emerge till spring.
I don’t know about you but I was feeling pretty cheerful this Monday till someone pointed all that out to me. They say misery loves company and I’m sure you know people who almost enjoy staying stuck in the doom and gloom of challenging times.
For sure, this is a time of year when reality often hits home.
Those credit card bills can be a shock to the system. And they can give you that little jolt to get back on track and take positive action.
The weather? Well, we’ve had snow disruption and we’ve also had snowmen and sledging and even bright winter sunshine.
As to those broken resolutions – there’s an opportunity to think again about what you really want to make happen this year.
January has two faces, like the roman god Janus who gave the month its name.
One looks back at the past and one towards the future.
What do you see when you look towards the past? If you dwell on what went wrong and what didn’t happen, your future face will tend to keep the same focus.
It truly is a new year, new decade so choose to see it for that. There’s sunshine and rainbows ahead and you’re over the worst now – “officially”!
