NESTLE’s plans to move production of Nescafé from its factory in Hayes, Middlesex, to Tutbury, Derbyshire, will not affect York jobs.
The Hayes site is proposed to close in 2014, after Nescafé said it was not feasible to redevelop it, and a full consultation has started with the 230 employees who work there.
A spokesperson for Nestlé said plans to build a £200 million extension to its Nescafé factory in Tutbury, in addition to the £110m extension to the Nescafé Dolce Gusto factory announced in November, would not affect York.
The new factory in Derbyshire is expected to create 125 new jobs in addition to 300 announced at the Nescafé Dolce Gusto factory.
