AN EAST Yorkshire town is to get a new supermarket after planners gave the multi-million-pound scheme the go-ahead.

Store giant Aldi has won approval for its application to open a branch where the Northwolds Printers building on Robertson Close, Pocklington, once stood – creating about 15 jobs in the process.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council gave the green light for the scheme this week, although the supermarket firm has yet to announce when building work will start. The Bond’s Garage site nearby will also be demolished to make way for a car park, with the store covering 1,330 square metres.
