HEALTH workers across North Yorkshire are heading into the online world to improve their skills.

North Yorkshire and York Community and Mental Health Services and NHS North Yorkshire and York have launched a new web-based training package for staff, which is aimed at making access to training easier and make the best use of the time they spend with patients.

The system allows them to train at the most convenient times in their daily workload, and Janet Probert, managing director of North Yorkshire and York Community and Mental Health Services, said: “We are really pleased with the positive feedback we’ve received from our staff.

“Ongoing training is essential for every healthcare worker and this new online method is proving to be a very valuable training tool. It’s also enabling staff to free up much more of their time to focus on their patients.”

Jayne Brown, NHS North Yorkshire and York chief executive, said: “The new online training package is both innovative and accessible.

“Staff can simply log in to the training programme quickly and with ease using their own assignment number.

“The new package will replace statutory and mandatory training days, cutting down on travelling time and costs and also helping us work towards our duty to reduce our carbon footprint.”
