THE fourth annual Selby Jobs Fair will be held in the town next month.

The jobs fair has been organised by MP for Selby and Ainsty Nigel Adams since 2010, with thousands of people attending over the years and hundreds of jobs and apprenticeships on offer.

This year, a number of employers have already confirmed their attendance and need for new employees, including the new Selby District Leisure Centre, and Ultima Kitchens, which is starting to recruit workers for their new £10m factory in Sherburn, in Elmet.

Other jobs on offer will include areas of health care, a riding school, catering, the energy industry, restaurants, distribution industries and some specialist roles.

Mr Adams said: “This is the fourth Selby District Jobs Fair organised in partnership with Selby Jobs Centre and Selby College. I am pleased that so many companies have already booked to take part, there are some very interesting jobs on offer. It is a delight to see the diversity of jobs in the district and the choice of jobs on offer the diversity of career opportunities available in the district.

“Helping people to get into work and to improve their career prospects is my top priority. I want to see continued economic progress in the district that I grew up in.”

Last year, more than 900 people attended the free, one-day event, and Mr Adams said he hoped this year’s fair would attract even more.

As well as jobs on offer, the Fair includes career guidance experts, funded training courses, work experience and classes in CV writing and other job seeking tips.

The fair will be held at Selby College on Thursday, October 9.
