THE jobs of 13 workers at a North Yorkshire-based producer of dried meat snacks have been saved.

Bare Earth Ltd, which manufactures the foodstuffs from its base at Moor Monkton, went into administration on February 18.

Immediately after being appointed administrators, Gareth Rusling and Chris White, of The P&A Partnership, sold the business to Mariani Foods Europe, saving all jobs at the firm.

Bare Earth Ltd began in Melmerby, near Ripon, in 2003, manufacturing a variety of meat snacks, including beef jerky, before moving to its current premises in York last year.

Over the past ten years the brand has grown into a £1.1m business, but ran into trouble this year when it lost two of its major retailers, resulting in a 50 per cent drop in sales, after investing in new premises.
