THE hard-working volunteers of Stamford Bridge In Bloom have been out this week getting their town ready for the influx of thousands of runners and spectators on the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon route.

The planting group goes out every Wednesday morning to work on its flower beds and gardens, and this year Stamford Bridge won the small town category of Yorkshire In Bloom.

On Sunday runners will pass through Stamford Bridge after 14 miles, just past halfway.

It will host one of the three spectator areas and entertainments for people watching the race.
