A FURTHER 29 apprenticeship placements have been secured in York by training provider YH Training Services.

The York Apprenticeship Challenge beat its target of creating 100 apprenticeship placements in 100 days with 30 days to spare.

Now a further 29 places have been announced with employers including Nipson Uk Ltd, Costcutter Supermarket Group Ltd and Talysis.

These include placements for young people taking an AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Apprenticeship, with Oliver Butterfield, who has just finished his A-Levels, starting an apprenticeship at HPH Chartered Accountants, in Bootham, York, and Mathew Clough, 23, who has worked for HPH for two years, progressing to his third year of an apprenticeship to complete the AAT Level 4 Qualification, approximately equivalent to the first year of an honours degree.

Robert Woolley, partner at HPH, said: “We have had a commitment to training for many years here at HPH Chartered Accountants.

“We see it as the best way to grow the firm; having talented young people in the organisation.”

James Wallis, 24, has also been employed by Eurosafe UK, based at Clifton Moor, after completing the Level 2 Apprenticeship with YH Training Services. He will progress on to the Level 3 AAT qualification (equivalent to A-Levels) in September.
