CYCLING fans coming to York for The Grand Depart next summer will have a chance to stay at Escrick Park Estate – thanks to a pioneering venture between the estate and Queen Margaret’s School in the village.

They are joining forces to create a special long weekend for Yorkshire’s Grand Depart on Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6, when the Tour de France starts in Yorkshire, bringing thousands of fans to the county’s roadsides to cheer on the riders.

Escrick Park will welcome caravans, mobile homes and tents on to the estate, with Queen Margaret’s opening up all the school’s facilities from July 4 to July 7. There will be breakfasts and evening meals available for those who have had a busy day cycling or taking in the Yorkshire countryside. For those not wishing to camp, Queen Margaret’s are also offering accommodation in the dormitories and cottages on the school site.
