There is so little to say, except that I pray his loss is not in vain. I hope that in the years to come the pain his family must be feeling is slowly replaced by pride and when we win the war on terror - which we surely must, his name will be up there with those that made the ultimate sacrifice to keep all the rest of us safe.

A true hero. I used to play basketball for school with Ashley and used to hang around with him practically every day its a sad loss for everyone that he has gone. :(

ashley was an amazing person and will be very missed by everyone! My heart and prays go out to his family and friends, its sad to think that another one of our brave solider's has died, we should all be greatfull for what he has done for his country! R.I.P ASHLEY SMITH :'(

Ashley.... You died fighting for our country, for that you deserve the upmost respect. You were a truly amazing person, loved by everyone. From nursery to Secondry you had that same smile, the same warm heart. You will be sadly missed but never ever forgotten. I am truly lucky to have known you! That smile will never fade ash. My condolences to all his family. I never knew Ashley but I have a son in the forces and this could have been him.

I was privileged to teach Ashley at Hob Moor Junior School. He was well mannered, co-operative, helpful, patient and had a lovely sense of humour. He was a joy to teach and I was deeply saddened to learn of his death.
I send my condolences to his family.

rip ashley such a lovely person kind honnest caring but most of a really good friend to have you are so sadly missed by everyone, you are a true hero and now an angel in the sky looking over everyone, i remember our clasic form group at oaklands you always made us all laugh i also remember you and people we used to hang out with playing basketball at my house all the time i was so bad but then you and the others did tower over me lol well at least you are home now where you belong and safe my thought are with your family sleep well ange you will always be remembered and never forgotten xxxxxx vicky xxxxx

What do you say at times like this. I would like to pass on my prayers & thoughts to his family & friends, I hope Ashley you are at peace & that your close ones find some solace that 1 day the reasons you were fighting for will happen & that you were a part of it.
