LAST week we selected a number of first-time buyer properties in the resale section of the market – but what if you are thinking of setting up home in your first rental property?

This prompted a debate about whether you could find somewhere decent to rent at a reasonable price, the general school of thought being York is an expensive place to buy or rent.

So, is there much about in the firsttime renters section of the market and how much can you expect to pay?

We asked our friends in the rental sector to meet a challenge. Could they come up with good properties to rent below £600? Well, as it turns out, yes they could...

And here are a few examples.

Faber Street, York, £600pcm. A well-appointed end-terraced property in a highly convenient locality just off Layerthorpe within easy walking distance of the city centre.
