Properties to rent with gardens
1:45pm Thursday 29th March 2012
Spring has sprung, and a garden is the best place to enjoy the weather. Brian Page looks at rental properties with attractive outdoor spaces.
Well, hooray, the sun has got his hat on and we can all come out to play... The daffodils, tulips and all sorts of other bright flowers are in bloom and we can, for the time being at least, sense that Spring has sprung - and can finally get out into the garden.
For some, this means with a spade and trowel and other horticultural instruments.
For those like me, and other more sensible types, it means with a book and a long cool drink.
Whether you are a gardener or just someone who likes to sit out in the sunshine, here’s a selection of properties to let which will suit your tastes.
Starting with a stunner on the books of Hudson Moody in Huntington Road, York, a splendid traditional detached house situated within a popular and sought-after area convenient for the city centre and outer ring road, local shops and excellent schools.
The highlights here include a sitting room, dining room, breakfast kitchen, utility and cloakroom to the ground floor with a master bedroom with en-suite shower room, three further bedrooms and a house bathroom to the first floor.
To the front of the house is an area of off-street parking which leads around the side to a detached single garage and to the rear where there are large lawned gardens.
The rental is £1,250pcm.
If you’ve got a pretty garden you want to have a spot to make the most of it – and where better than from a nice summerhouse?
Which is what can be found in the delightful back garden of a detached house in Hobgate, Acomb, on the books of Letters of Distinction.
This is an ideally-situated, beautifullypresented property which boasts a lounge leading through to a large dining room with window and door to rear garden.
The fitted kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven and fridge.
To the first floor there are two double bedrooms, one with fitted wardrobes, and a large single bedroom and a family bathroom and separate WC.
As we said, there is a delightful rear garden here, complete with summerhouse.
The rental is £850pcm.
Here’s another in the Hobgate area, this time in Lynden Way, an unfurnished threebedroomed semi in a quiet residential area, conveniently located for the city centre and Acomb.
This one has an entrance hallway, a through lounge/diner and a fitted kitchen with ceramic hob, electric double oven and plumbing for a washing machine.
Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (both with fitted wardrobes) and a single bedroom and bathroom and separate WC. As well as a single garage and driveway there are nice, low-maintenance gardens to front and rear.
It is marketed by Letters Ltd at a rental of £775pcm.
The same agent can also offer a detached 1930s house in Westminster Road, Clifton, within walking distance of the city centre and with easy access to the A19 and ring road.
This one has a spacious through lounge, with patio doors out to the garden, and a kitchen with integrated appliances. There are two double bedrooms and a single and a house bathroom. Gardens to front and back – with the rear garden having a patio area. There is also a single garage and driveway. The rental is £895pcm.
Generous gardens feature, too, in our next pick, a spacious semi in Bramley Garth, Appletree Village, Heworth.
This one has the added bonus of a brand new bathroom and new decor and carpets throughout.
Downstairs there is a spacious lounge with conservatory, upstairs three generous bedrooms. Garage and gardens complete the package, for which Quantum are seeking £795pcm.
We are heading out of town for our final property, on the books of Linley and Simpson.
Brandsby Hall Cottage is just outside Brandsby village. This is a lovely-looking cottage which offers an entrance hall, kitchen with oven, hob and fridge and with a pantry with space and plumbing for a washing machine.
Character touches here include a woodburning stove in the dining room and an open fire in the lounge. There are three double bedrooms, one single bedroom and a bathroom.
Very nice gardens here included in the rental of £695pcm.
