Priorpot Mews at Norton has proven a big success - and buyers will have to be quick to snap up the remaining family homes, says Brian Page
REDROW’S Priorpot Mews development at Norton is proving something of a success – to the point where there are just nine properties left.
A nicely-mixed community of three and four-bed homes, Priorpot Mews, sitting in a semirural location between Norton and Malton, certainly has all the ingredients...
a fine family estate with some beautiful countryside on the doorstep.
As Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), says: “Priorpot Mews has been a great success with a whole host of buyers, including those who have bought their very first home and growing families moving up the property ladder.
“Now that we are fast approaching the end of the development, those who dream of making a move to a brand-new home may fear they’ve left it too late.
“But that’s not the case as with HomeBuy Direct and partexchange available they could find that stepping on or up the property ladder is easier than they anticipated.”
In fact, Priorpot Mews is one of a diminishing number of developments which still has HomeBuy Direct available.
Under this government-backed initiative, first-time buyers can make savings of £5,390 on a new home – and a mortgage of £102,409 could be enough to secure a three-bedroom home with an open-market value of more than £153,000.
And there is another incentive available for buyers looking to move up the property ladder into a bigger home as Redrow have a part-exchange scheme in place.
The three and four-bedroom homes at Priorpot Mews are, says Patsy, well-suited for such buyers.
“They’re ideal if you want a quick move as you won’t have to worry about repairs, renovations, decorating or installing kitchen appliances, as a brand-new microwave, oven and fridge freezer are integrated into the stylish kitchens.
“There’s plenty of storage space for pots and pans thanks to tall cabinets and extra-wide drawers; while family bathrooms and ensuites boast quality fixtures and fittings plus an exclusive tile range.”
Patsy added: “The homes don’t just look good but are practical too. Designed to maximise efficiency and minimise waste, they’re well insulated with double glazing and central heating included as standard, which means householders should save money on their fuel bills.”
And the houses themselves?
Well, one of the remaining styles on the development is a handsome- looking Hayward, a nicely laid-out, smart and spacious house.
It has a large lounge and a family- friendly dining kitchen on the ground floor (along with a store and cloakroom) while upstairs the master bedroom of three has an en-suite shower room and there is a well-fitted family bathroom. The price? A positive snip at £139,999.

Meanwhile, David Wilson Homes have had a success of their own in the shape of its Buckingham Mews development at Kirkbymoorside, where there are now just three houses remaining.
These include two ‘Lincoln’-style properties. Detached four-bedroomed family homes, they each feature an entrance hall leading through to a dining kitchen with bay window, a sitting room with French doors onto the garden and separate utility room.
Upstairs, the master bedroom has an en-suite and each has its own garage and garden. Prices for what David Wilson call a “mustsee home” start at £299,995.
The development itself is small, select and perfectly formed with just 21 executive homes set in attractive countryside and with good transport links to commuting routes. For more information, call the marketing office on 01751 431520 (open daily from 10am to 5pm) or visit www.dwh.co.uk
