Flats… apartments? who cares what they are called.

Here’s a nice selection to view, says Brian Page.

WHEN is a flat not a flat? When it is an apartment! In recent years the Americanism of a perfectly serviceable word has crept into our lexicon (which for you and me means vocabulary).

Hey ho, it matters not. Here is a selection of flats/apartments to let in the York area… Starting with what we think is a lovely-looking village property, Swallows in Dauby Lane in Kexby.

Offered unfurnished, this is a super, modern self-contained apartment with an open-style living area, new kitchen (with built-in appliances), utility room and double bedroom (with fitted wardrobes) plus an ensuite shower room. Set in private and secluded surroundings with views of open countryside, less than five miles from the centre of York; close to The Vale of York and Yorkshire Wolds, this is a unique property, ideal for those who like to get away from it all but still be close to commuter routes.

Complete with parking and an outside sitting area, it is offered by Quantum at a rental of £595pcm.

The same agent also has another pretty village property, this time in the shape of an annexe to Appledale House at Appleton Roebuck. Set in the grounds of a larger house, it is a detached flat located above garages. The flat is spacious and well-presented throughout, with a large open-style lounge and kitchen (with electric hob, oven, fridge, utility with dishwasher and washer-dryer), a large double bedroom and bathroom with walk-in shower cubicle. And in our last but far from least spot, we return to Quantum, who have an unfurnished first-floor apartment in Burton Stone Lane “ideal for a single person or young couple” which offers a living room, kitchen, double bedroom – and a study area/dressing room – and bathroom. The rental is £475pcm.
