Those ever so nice people at Carter Jonas are used to handling some very smart properties – they tend, in the main, to market properties at the top end of the market.
Understandably, it takes something special to impress them. So when Alison Kent, from the company’s Leeds office, began waxing lyrical about a ‘hugely impressive’ development property, we had to take a look.
And we, too, were taken with the highly unique property that is The Spires, at Brayton, near Selby.
It’s certainly a distinctive house to look at. The twin spires, from which the house gets its name, sit on top of curved domes at the top of tower rooms to either side of the stately sloping roof.
There are huge windows all around the home, hinting at the big rooms and high ceilings within – and the frontage is a handsome mix of red brick and white rendering.
What’s more it sits in splendid isolation, surrounded by woodland and paddocks extending to around three acres.
One look at the property, then, is enough to tell you this is something very different indeed.
“It’s a very individual property,” Alison says, “very unique and while it is a redevelopment of an older property (dating back to 1906) it has been extended and is now very modern and very striking.”
The Spires has grown from an old water works close to Selby Golf Club, and has been refurbished and extended by developer Tony Vincent, who has specialised in the past in similar highly unique properties. There is a palatial feel to the property as walk through the floor plans reveals.
The extent of space and style is evident the moment you step into a large entrance hallway. From here you step into a massive drawing room which runs to 34ft in length.
There is a big breakfast kitchen area and a separate dining room as well as a ground floor cloakroom and a useful study. Upstairs there are five bedrooms and another study area/snug. The master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom as does a large guest suite.
And here is another bonus… while the project is near to completion, there is still the opportunity for buyers to have their own input into the finishing touches, including the chance to choose your own style of bathroom and kitchen.
So, this is a unique, highly individual property – and you still have the chance to add your own unique and individual touches… Well worth a visit for those looking for something decidedly different. The Spires, Mill Lane, Brayton, has a guide price of £699,000. Interested parties should contact Carter Jonas, Leeds, on 0113 203 1090.
