In the last New Homes supplement we took a look at the Shepherd Homes site at Revival on Tadcaster Road – and very impressive it was, too.
Not to be outdone, however, the good people from Taylor Wimpey invited us along to have a look at their properties on the same development.
And it must be our month to be impressed, because we found an equally interesting, varied and stylish set of properties.
Indeed, there is a very eye-catching contemporary feel to the show homes on the Taylor Wimpey share of this development.
And we should know, as we have had a good look at four of the house styles that the company is building for what has become very much a prestige site.
Tadcaster Road, should you not know it, is an ideal location for new home development of the swish kind. It is one of York’s most prestigious locations, surrounded by more mature housing of the very desirable kind. And it is ideal for those who want to live on the edge of the city – with easy access to York itself and well placed for commuting into Leeds with the A64 and the A1 (M) link roads a couple of gear changes away.
So what are Wimpey Taylor offering? Well, quite a lot. The builder has a good mix of house styles available, from the The Yale, a four-bed, four-storey townhouse, to the Conway, a four-bed three-storey house with separate study, and up to the Bexley, a five-bed, three-storey detached house. And there is also the Boston, a three-bed, three-storey semi-detached house.
It would certainly be wrong of us to say that we have a favourite for the very simple reason that, cleverly, Taylor Wimpey have provided homes for a wide range of family living. Something for everyone, as the saying goes.
Let’s just talk you through a couple of the houses we had a peek into… Starting with the Yale, which is a towering and highly individual four-bed house sprawling its way across four floors. With this home you walk into a spacious hall and immediately set eyes on a garden room with patio doors opening onto a garden and patio area. There is an integral garage on this floor, along with a useful storage cupboard and cloakroom. Padding up the stairs we find a brilliant first-floor living area with a lounge with a Juliet balcony and a spacious dining kitchen (oh, and there is another cloakroom). The second floor is given over to a master bedroom with ensuite shower room, two further bedrooms and a house bathroom. And then (sucking in air) we make our way up to the third floor, where there is yet another bedroom with en-suite and a home office. Quite clever touch, this, as if you don’t work from home you can stick one of your computer-crazed teenage children up here and they won’t bother you from meal time to meal time… And then there is the Conway, a pretty superior (in the best sense of the word) detached family home. Here it is the ground floor which provides the living and dining areas. The hallway opens onto a front dining room and then a large lounge with French doors and full-length boxed bay windows overlooking the garden. And there is a knockout breakfast kitchen (big enough to allow you to use the aforementioned dining room as a second reception room should you wish). On the first floor there is a superb, spacious master bedroom with a delightful en-suite, a house bathroom and then two bedrooms with an interconnecting en-suite shower room (not very often you get as many bathrooms as bedrooms on a single floor!).
And, as if that was not enough, stairs lead up to yet another big bedroom with an ensuite shower room… and there is a study area on this floor, too.
This is a great house, very modern, very practical – and yet with a super sense of style and elegance.
But then those are qualities that run through all of the Taylor Wimpey homes on the Revival site.
And, having checked out the show homes, we were impressed with the highly contemporary interior design on show. You may not want to follow the style exactly, but there are plenty of tips and hints to give you some great ideas for how you could set up your own home.
Each of the house styles is highly individual and with completely different layouts, making for a very intriguing mix.
Worth a visit? We should say so… Prices at the Revival development start from £299,995. More information is available from The Taylor Wimpey marketing suite, telephone 0845 676 2330.
