DON’T be fooled by the internal pictures; this not a show home on a prestigious development, it must be at least 150 years old.
But the reason you get a false impression is that the property has been extensively updated in recent years by the current owners.
And what a great job they have done. Modern touches and décor, but all sympathetically centred on an abundance of period features.
The living room shows how the vendors have cleverly mixed contemporary with traditional. There may be a bay window and fireplace with inset log burner style gas fire, but the décor is firmly 21st century.
Then there is a separate dining room overlooking the rear garden with its grand period fireplace and we especially like the clean lines in the kitchen/breakfast room. It is fitted with an extensive range of stylish framed wall and base units with solid wood worktops, a breakfast bar, space for a range cooker and an integrated dishwasher, washer/dryer plus fridge/freezer.
The kitchen also has a door and window to the garden at the side.
On the first floor you will find two double bedrooms, both with period fireplaces. There are also a couple of bathrooms; one with a shower over the bath and a second, larger bathroom with a Victorian style freestanding bath and separate shower enclosure.
Finally, on the top floor is a further double bedroom with a dormer window to the rear.
To the front is a forecourt and a door giving access to the side alleyway which leads to the west facing paved rear garden. This is an oasis of calm with a built in pergola and plenty of space for plants and a table and chairs.
If all this isn’t enough, St Olaves Road is within walking distance of the city centre via the towpath alongside the Ouse or through Museum Gardens.
This may not be a show home on a prestigious development, but once inside you’d be forgiven for thinking that way.
