YOU probably know Boroughbridge best for its fine Georgian square or those ancient monoliths on the outskirts. But house builder Barratt has come up with another reason to become acquainted with this pretty little market town; a beautiful new development of 88 stylish, high quality new build homes.

From two bedroom town houses to spacious four bedroom detached properties, Meadow Fields on Wetherby Road will appeal to first time buyers and growing families alike. Not only are the homes fantastic, but the access into town and its great facilities couldn’t be easier, nor could getting to the A1M, which would make this development ideal for commuters.

And with York a mere 30 minutes drive, Meadow Fields ought to be a serious contender for any homebuyer’s shortlist.

The prices are less eye-watering than York’s too. At £224,995 The Finchley is a delightful three bedroom terraced family home. Better still you can secure one with just five per cent deposit through the help to buy scheme, which makes it ideal for first time buyers Downstairs The Finchley boasts a spacious lounge which leads to an attractive, contemporary open-plan kitchen diner with French doors to the garden. Upstairs, you will find two double bedrooms with an en-suite to the master bedroom, a single bedroom and a family bathroom. Outside is a west facing garden as well as a dedicated parking space.

The detached Chesham is the next rung on the ladder. Its ground floor has a similar specification to the Finchley, albeit larger, but upstairs you get an extra single bedroom, while the £334,995 price tag also buys you a single garage and utility.

An extra £40,000 takes you into Halstead territory. We think this could well prove the most popular design because all four bedrooms are good sized doubles, you get a separate utility and the garage is integrated into the house.

It’s a handsome looking building too with its L shape and a large bay window to the living room. There is some nice detailing too, such as the stone lintels to the master bedroom. Classic, yet contemporary, just what we all want these days.

The Alnwick is an altogether different proposition. Here the priority is on traditional living in the form of a separate dining room, which forms one half of the double fronted design. The other half is a very sizeable living room. At 21ft by nearly 12ft this is Regency living for the 21st century. We like it a lot.

The other thing we really like about The Alnwick is a separate study, with its own door, so you can lock yourself away and work from home without the usual domestic distractions. Upstairs and the master bedroom suite is very impressive indeed with its huge walk-in wardrobe/dressing room. Priced from £414,995, this is a very comprehensive package for the money.

Should you need a double garage the Cambridge is for you. Similar in design to The Halstead, with again stone lintels to the main bedroom window and similar in concept to the Alnwick with its separate dining room, this property has a breakfast bar, which acts as a good divide between kitchen and family area. The utility also has a door to the garden.

In keeping with its name The Harrogate is the flagship. Only a few are planned, all with feature fireplaces and fabulous kitchen/family rooms, not to mention en suites for the two principal bedrooms.

“We’re excited about the launch of Meadow Fields in Boroughbridge and the response from local buyers has been very positive,” says Chris Neal, Sales Manager for Barratt Homes Yorkshire East.

“We’ve already had a number of reservations following our opening weekend and we would urge interested buyers to move quickly to avoid missing out.”

So there you have it; a top notch new development from the only national home builder to win the prestigious five star builder rating award every year since 2009.

And considering Meadow Fields is so close to York, it’s very reasonably priced. That’s not something we get to say very often.
