WE are out and about, here and there, this week, looking at city centre pads, country homes and village houses.

We start with a super penthouse apartment with spectacular panoramic views across York. It is on the riverside-based Rowntreee Wharf, Fossway, just a short stroll from the shops, restaurants, cafes and bars of the city.

We find it, as the name would apply, on the top floor – thankfully there is lift access – and tumble into the main living areas via two sets of doors (plenty of privacy). There

is a great ‘New York loft style living’ feel to this property, thanks to the unusual and engaging mezzanine level living/study area with exposed beams and trusses overhead and hardwood flooring underfoot. There is a smart kitchen/dining area, one bedroom with en-suite, a second bedroom and a shower room. The package comes with secure off-street parking and “early viewing is recommended,” say marketing agents Hudson Moody. The rental is £1,200pcm.

Another individual and engaging city centre home can be found a short distance away in Moatside Court, off Lord Mayor’s Walk. This is a brilliantly presented property, offered to let fully furnished. The single floor layout offers an open plan lounge/dining room and a luxury fitted kitchen with a good range of integrated appliances. There is a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a second bedroom and shower room. Unusually for a city centre spot, this is a property which offers both a private garden and off-street parking. A really attractive proposition, it is offered by Ashtons at a rental of £995pcm.

The same agent can offer another superbly presented property, this time in Main Street, Fulford, close to all local amenities in a very much self-contained village which also provides easy access to York city centre.

The house has just been refurbished to a high spec and includes a new kitchen with granite worktops and integrated appliances including a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and double oven. There is a large living/dining room with solid wood floors and original period fireplace and three large double bedrooms and family bathroom. It is offered at a rental of £1,200pcm.

If you are looking for a home in a rural location then our next pick, Hayrose, a pretty as a picture terraced cottage in Wigginton could be the place for you.

It looks like a delightful olde worlde property but it was actually built in 2009 – so you get the character but with all the mod cons. Here there is a lounge with multi-fuel burning stove and beamed ceiling and a fitted dining kitchen. There is a master bedroom with en-suite and a second bedroom and house bathroom. The house comes with an attractive front garden and rear yard and a parking space. Stephensons are marketing this one at a rental of £695pcm.

Next we are off to the Tadcaster Road area where we find a four-bedroomed family house in Cherry Close. This home offers a large sitting room with patio doors leading into the garden, a dining area open to a well-equipped kitchen with oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There are three double bedrooms and a single, a shower room and a house bathroom. With gardens to all sides and a double garage, this is a house with a lot to offer. It is on the books of Linley and Simpson with a rental price of £1,395pcm.

And, in our last but definitely not least spot, comes another large family house, this one in Green Lane, Acomb.

A smartly presented home close to local shops and amenities, there is plenty of space and style on offer here. On the ground floor there is a good-sized lounge with feature fireplace, an attractive dining room with French doors out to the garden and opening into the fully-fitted kitchen. On the first floor there are three double bedrooms (with the master having an en-suite) and a family shower room. There are two further bedrooms to the second floor. The property boasts a large tandem garage and gardens. It is offered by Ashtons at a rental of £1,300pcm.
