HOUSEBUILDER Persimmon will open new building sites in Easingwold and Thirsk in 2013.

Simon Usher, director of Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said the Yorkshire division sustained more than 1,500 jobs in 2012 and helped Persimmon increase revenues and profits.

He said: “Overall, the group opened 125 new sites during 2012 and in Yorkshire we played our part by opening five new developments.

“Government-backed schemes such as NewBuy and FirstBuy are offered by the region to either help people get onto the property ladder or move up."
