IT’S time to get a move on – as homes to let are going like hot cakes.

If you are hoping to be settled in a new pad for Christmas, there’s plenty on offer in and around York, but some lettings agencies are encouraging hopeful tenants to act now as they say properties are being snapped up almost as fast as they become available.

Hudson Moody have 13 Ashley Park Crescent, Stockton Lane, York, on offer for £650 per calendar month, an unfurnished semidetached bungalow recently modernised and improved with re-wiring, gas-fired central heating and UPVC double glazed replacement windows.

An entrance hall opens to a living room with a living flame gas fire, then an inner hall gives access to the newly-fitted kitchen, two bedrooms and new bathroom. Outside, a driveway leads to a single garage and an enclosed, mostly lawned rear garden.

Stephensons meanwhile are promoting two properties.

At Jasmine Garth, in Sutton-on- Derwent, a semi-detached house with gardens and a garage is available unfurnished for £700 per calendar month. The ground floor has a cloakroom and WC, lounge, large fitted kitchen with appliance and dining area, while upstairs there are three double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. Again, no smokers or pets.

On Hambleton Terrace, York, Stephensons have a newly-decorated, recently-modernised traditional forecourt terrace in a quiet yet convenient area. For let unfurnished at £650 per calendar month, it has gas central heating, a lounge, dining room, re-fitted kitchen with oven and hob, two bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower. There’s a rear yard and outbuilding, but it’s not available to smokers or pet owners.

Letters are offering 47B Front Street, Acomb, York, for just £495 per calendar month. This one double- bedroom unfurnished house is hidden away, but close to shops, has a breakfast kitchen with fitted units, gas cooker, plumbing for a washing machine and space for a dining table and chairs. The lounge has an electric fire and there’s a large bathroom with shower. There’s gas central heating, double glazing, a yard and garden and on-street parking.

At £595 per calendar month, 12 Bootham Crescent, Bootham, York, is a one-bedroom, groundfloor unfurnished apartment. The entrance hall with cupboard leads to a lounge with electric fire, kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, integrated fridge and breakfast bar and a large pantry/utility room with washing machine. The double bedroom has a fitted wardrobe and a bathroom with over-bath shower. There’s a shared yard/walled garden and permit parking. No children, pets, smokers or students.

Also from Letters is 15 Milton Street, York, at £595 per calendar month. This newly-decorated unfurnished two-bedroom terrace has two reception rooms, kitchen with electric cooker and fridge freezer and plumbing for washing machine and a ground floor bathroom with over bath shower. Upstairs, the two double bedrooms have fitted cupboards and the property includes a rear yard, on-street parking, gas central heating and double glazing, but again no pets, smokers or students please.

This week’s four final offers come from Linley & Simpson, starting with a one-bedroom apartment for £550 per calendar month in St Mary’s, Bootham, York. Furnished, the ground-floor flat has a hallway with storage cupboard/wardrobe, a lounge/diner, kitchen with oven, hob, fridge and microwave, one double bedroom and a shower room. It also has electric heating, and parking is available to the rear or on street permit parking is available via York Council. No pets, children or smokers.

For £650 per calendar month, Long Street, Easingwold, is a newly-built unfurnished terraced house with entrance hall, sitting room with electric fire, inner lobby, wc, utility and breakfast kitchen with oven, hob, fridge & dishwasher.

Upstairs are two double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes and a bathroom with over-bath shower. It has gas central heating, double glazing, off-street parking and rear garden.
