CHARLOTTE PERCIVAL finds some of the best two-bedroom homes in York, and North and East Yorkshire.
GOOD things come in small packages, so the saying goes, and that is certainly true of two-bedroom homes.
First up this week, Otisdale has a mid-terrace house in Kensington Street, in the South Bank area of York.
At £145,000, this home also has the benefit of having no onward chain.
Inside, there is a lounge with a pine fire surround, a kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms, both with fireplaces.
Outside, there is an enclosed yard with gate access to the rear.
Otisdale also has a fully-modernised semi-detached in Chapelfields Road, Acomb.
It includes an entrance hall, lounge/diner with a living flame gas fire, a dining area, a kitchen with modern units in white and an integrated oven, a utility/breakfast room and a bathroom.
There is a lawn to the front and a flagged patio and pebbled garden to the rear.
It is priced at £138,995.
Next, Redmove has an inner terraced house in Orchard Cottages, Dunnington.
Priced at £199,950, it enjoys a cul-de-sac location and has been maintained to an excellent standard with quality décor.
There is an entrance hall, a sitting room with an attractive polished wooden fire surround, a modern fitted kitchen with base and wall units and a breakfast bar, a conservatory with French doors to the garden and a modern bathroom.
The master bedroom has a recessed double robe which is currently used as an office area, while the second bedroom has fitted wardrobes.
Outside, there is an open plan front garden and a patio area, a pond, water feature and shrubs to the rear. There is also a garage.
Redmove also has a semi-detached bungalow in Fairfax, Stamford Bridge.
It has been brought up to modern standards by the owners, and includes a modern fitted kitchen and bathroom, neutral décor to the living rooms, gas central heating and double glazing.
There is also a garage and gardens to the front and rear.
It is priced at £174,950.
Meanwhile, Chris Clubley & Co has a cottage conversion of a former Methodist church in Church Lane, Pocklington, for £139,950.
This unique home has been tastefully converted to incorporate original features and includes a sitting room with a fitted fireplace and exposed beamed ceiling, a dining kitchen with units, an oven and a hob, a bathroom with a white suite and two bedrooms.
Outside, there is a small forecourt and communal parking.
Alternatively, Quantum has a stylish Duplex city centre apartment in Heron Court, Lawrence Street, York.
This is one of only two of its kind on the site, and is priced at £149,950.
Inside, there is an open-plan lounge and dining area which leads to a modern kitchen, double doors to a Juliet balcony and a separate cloakroom.
The bedrooms both have built-in wardrobes and are on the first floor, and there is a stylish bathroom too. Private allocated parking is included.
Finally, smilesallround has two properties in York. The first is a semi-detached bungalow in The Glade, Stockton Lane, priced at £169,950.
There is a lounge/diner with a mounted gas fire, a fitted kitchen with a built-in electric oven and hob and a bathroom with a fitted three-piece suite.
The front garden boasts off-street parking and a single garage, while the rear garden is laid mainly to lawn with shrub borders and a patio area.
The second property is a Victorian terrace in Sutherland Street, York, at £162,000.
This home is in the popular South Bank area and is close to both York city centre and the railway station.
It includes a lounge with a fitted cupboard and gas fire with marble inset and pine surround, a dining room, a kitchen with wall and base units, an integrated fridge and an integrated freezer and a ground floor bathroom.
Outside, there is a rear courtyard and an outhouse with power and lights.
LAST YEAR it was a shark off the Cornwall coast that saw The Sun through the silly season; this year it’s little green men in flying saucers over Shropshire. Both stories, of course, are utter tosh.

IT was a bit of an eye-opener to say the least. The highlight of a friend’s stag party in Paris last weekend saw a group of hardened racegoers, including your correspondent, take a trip to the Hippodrome de Saint-Cloud in the west of the city.
