CHARLOTTE PERCIVAL takes a look at some homes with nice gardens in York and North and East Yorkshire.
THE Bank Holiday weekend is almost upon us, and what better way to spend it than relaxing in a garden?
This week, we have found homes with some fine outdoor areas.
First up, Grays & Co is marketing a detached home with beautiful gardens and open views.
Orchard House, at Burnby, near Pocklington, boasts four bedrooms, a sitting room with a stone fireplace and double glazed French doors to the rear patio, a dining room, a study, a bathroom with a roll-top stand alone bath and a kitchen with wall and base units, a double range cooker and plenty of space for a table.
Outside, there is a landscaped rear garden with lawn, a paved seating area, steps and a wide range of flowers and shrubs.
There is a further grassed area with a feature pond, trees and shrubs and a timber outbuilding.
It is priced at £595,000.
Meanwhile, Redmove has a three/four bedroom detached in New Lane, Huntington.
This home is priced at £299,950, stands in generously-sized gardens and offers scope to extend.
Inside, there is a sitting room with a bay window, a feature fireplace and French doors to the garden, a dining room, a family room/fourth bedroom and a breakfast kitchen with base and wall units and a window which overlooks the garden.
There are mature shrubs and trees in the front garden, while the rear garden includes a patio area, slightly raised decking, lawn, mature shrubs and flower beds.
Next, Carter Jonas has a charming stone detached with lovely lawned gardens in Welburn.
Welburn House, which is between Helmsley and Kirbymoorside, dates back 300 years and has been completely renovated and refurbished by the present owners.
Inside, there is reception hall with exposed beams and a stone flagged floor, a drawing room with an open fireplace and ceiling cornicing, a dining room with a fireplace, exposed beams and recessed display alcoves and a sitting room with a window overlooking the garden and a solid fuel burning range set in a stone hearth and surround.
The breakfast kitchen features windows to two elevations, base cupboards and drawers, a five-ring gas hob, integrated Bosch microwave and oven, a solid fuel burning range, a stone flagged floor and exposed beams.
There are five bedrooms, two of which have en-suites, and a house bathroom with a roll-top bath.
Outside, there are substantial lawned gardens, mature trees, well-stocked flower beds and borders, a car port and a garage.
It is priced at £750,000.
Alternatively, you might like The Old Coach House, Brinkworth Hall, at Elvington.
Marketed by smilesallround, this home is also priced at £750,000 and has been sympathetically converted into an individual four-bedroom family home in private woodland with a self-contained annexe.
Inside, you will find a breakfast kitchen, a dining room with French doors to the front veranda, a brick fireplace and Little Wenlock cast iron multi-fuel stove and a family room with original exposed beams and a home office area created from a stable stall.
There is a bathroom and an annexe lobby, which leads to the fourth bedroom, an annexe bathroom and an annexe lounge/diner and kitchen.
This home is set in about three acres and approached by a long, sweeping private road bordered by mature horse chestnut trees and paddocks.
There are extensive lawned areas, a large pond stocked with fish, plants and ducks, woodland, a large vegetable garden and an orchard with some 20 fruit trees.
Finally, Otisdale has a modern one-bedroom quarter house in Longwood Road, Clifton Moor.
Priced at £139,995, this home has been improved by the present owners and would make a great first-time buy.
The living room has a hardwood front door and stripped floorboards and is open plan to the kitchen area, which has a range of modern units in a solid oak finish, granite-effect work surfaces, an integrated oven, gas hob and stripped floorboards.
The bedroom has fitted wardrobes, an airing cupboard and a TV aerial socket, while the bathroom has a tiled panel bath with an electric shower over, a WC and a pedestal wash hand basin.
Outside, there is a lawned front garden with shrubs and trees and a rear garden with raised decking, lawn, a slate bed and shed.
