Itinerary

Day One

Leaving the local area in the early morning we'll travel to London. After arriving in London you'll be free to explore at leisure. Take in the famous sights and marvellous shops or the ever-changing new attractions and exhibitions in this exciting city. After the chance for an early evening meal, you'll head to your hotel for a good night's rest.

Day Two

After breakfast, we will head to the British Museum for the highlight of your break - a visit to the 'Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum' exhibition. This fascinating look at daily life and the Ancient Roman home emphasises individuals - businessmen, powerful women, freed slaves and children. The exhibition includes some extremely rare finds and casts of some of the victims of the eruption, including a wooden cradle from the House of MPP Granianus, blackened and preserved by the rage of the volcano, but with the fine grain still visible in the wood, and the rare and wonderful Pompeian wall-painting portrait of a young couple (Terentius Neo and his wife) - an invaluable glimpse into the faces (and intellectual pretentions) of a young and 'upwardly mobile' couple. We'll begin our journey home in the afternoon, arriving in the local area by mid to late evening.
