Top fundraisers

REGARDING your story about fundraising at Scalm Park Leisure Facility (The Press, September 6), I would like to credit a number of fundraisers who helped achieve that target.

Staff member Ishbel Morris organises a golf competition each year to raise money for breakthrough breast cancer, which recently raised £969.14.

Club members Peter and Alison Young organise an annual fundraising day for Children In Need, which last year raised £1,282.

Last year’s club captains, Barry Smith and Pat Regan, raised £1,196.14 for Help For Heroes with a number of golf competition days and weekly raffles. Holiday caravan owners John and Pat Craven also used the park’s facilities to host a fundraising day for the same charity, which raised £1,411.

Olivia Howard’s parents Mark and Sue, along with Tony and Tracy Phillips and Paul and Linda Meagor, held the Kernow Cup golf competition in support of Candlelighters which raised £1,143.33.

All the events are made possible by owners Sid and Carol Lamb. Sid had a heart transplant in 2004 which sparked an annual golf competition with funds donated to the Freeman Heart & Lung Transplant, Donor Family Network, Transplant Support Network and Transplant Sport UK. The most recent competition raised £4,054.
