What a waste

MOST people who become rich and remain so usually possess sound logic.

So why should anyone be surprised if they try to pay less after seeing examples every day of how their taxes are wasted by successive governments on a grand scale?

The letters column could be filled for a week with tales of waste, from NHS health tourism to people saying they only work 16 hours a week so they can claim all benefits, when their other hours are paid in the hand.

Not many good things come out of a recession, but when cutbacks have to be made the massive waste, especially by the Labour government, clearly comes to light.

We all know that rich people think money spent on poor people is a waste, but that doesn't make them "logical", it just proves they're greedy.

I happen to think that the portion of my tax that's spent on the monarchy, the armed forces, subsidising Richard Branson and so on, is wasted and would be better spent elsewhere, but that doesn't give me the right to wriggle out of paying my dues to society.

One rule for the rich; one rule for everyone else.
