Sheriff’s party line
IN NOVEMBER we are being asked to elect a new sheriff to supervise our local police.
It appears the most of the candidates for police commissioner will be supported by one of our political parties, so in effect we are going to hand the control of our police force to the political parties.
Can this be a good thing? Perhaps, as usual, the candidate’s first loyalty will be to their party bosses and the public will yet again come a poor third. Perhaps to encourage people to take part in this election there could be a competition to name the future sheriff’s horse.
