LIKE Coun Dave Merrett, I welcome the changes to York’s bus network in so far as they help the user.
Certainly the system gives local authorities little say over how the bus service in their area conducts itself.
However, that is beside the point.
York as an authority has a wide rage of powers under the 1985 Act and others to secure for residents a decent service.
I feel it is time that the authority used those powers. For the sake of us all.
