Just give us the figures

I DO wish the council would stop treating us like fools (The Press, October 3).

From the information given to us, the Hiscox development of Hungate seems the best proposal for jobs and for income streams.

They have admitted that other bids were offered, and one of these would have given a larger capital input than the Hiscox bid. We are adults; just give us the figures of the other bids.

It is great news that this site will give us hundreds of new jobs and a healthy boost to council coffers, but this reluctance to publish all the facts will only increase the impression that important decisions affecting council policy are being taken in secret with no scrutiny being allowed by opposition or the public. No company need be named.

Geoff Robb, Hunters Close, Dunnington.

Tosh!
This kind of information is in the public domain already. If Mr Robb is refused the information all he has to do is to submit a freedom of information demand

The point is, he shouldn't have to do this.

York residents have every right to know what the Council have sold the land for.

They are keen to inform us what the benefits to York's economy will be in monetary terms, but, hide basic information like this.

Is it any wonder that they are not trusted ?
