Cancel city proposal

I WAS horrified to read the article in The Press of September 28 which showed an impression of how the new Hiscox headquarters could look.

Please can the architect responsible for this monstrous building proposal be immediately incarcerated in the Tower!

We already possess one dreadful eyesore nearby, the Stonebow. The Hiscox building is a dreadful slab of concrete, brick and glass without any pretensions to beauty – look at the lovely Black Swan Inn nearby.

Please can the proposal be immediately cancelled and the firm of architects give a severe talking to. York is (mostly) a beautiful city, let us keep it that way and produce a building of beauty not an eyesore.
