I can’t believe the cost of incinerator

IS IT just me, because every time I see anything regarding the proposal for an incinerator in North Yorkshire, I cannot believe or understand the cost?

The Press of October 1 stated a 25-year deal of £1.4 billion. This, over 25 years, makes £56 million a year; what does this do?

They talk about recycling, but why so much money? Just compare to the new City of York Council offices, costing about £32 million. For the cost of one incinerator, you could have 45 – yes, 45 – new council office blocks; and again just how large is this incinerator, or is it going to burn all the world’s waste?

Could someone please tell me how big this building will actually be, as I am sure we could have a number of new schools, hospitals and affordable housing for this £1.4 billion?
