IN HIS praise of Coun David Horton, RS Pearson accuses me of “sniping” but I do no such thing (Letters, September 29).
All my actions are a full charge in the thick of battle, often single handed and always open to hostile fire. It is nonsense to suggest I have no bottle or that I keep my head below the parapet. Few have the courage to be as outspoken as myself. These accusations of cowardice are nothing more than an attempt to blacken my character in an attempt to deflect legitimate criticisms of those in power.
The big difference between Mr Horton’s career and my own is that Mr Horton has been an employed official for others, whereas I have created something myself. It is easy to work on big projects as part of a big team with the back-up of an established organisation; far harder to start up on your own account and keep going for 33 years. The undeniable fact is that I actually employ people but Coun Horton does not.
