Counting the cost
I WAS interested to read that the council predicts savings of £23 million over the next 30 years (The Press, October 1) by spending £44 million on moving to a new city hall.
Forgive my scepticism, but 30 years seems a very long period on which to accurately base a savings calculation.
I wonder how much will actually be saved next year and whether such savings will be directly applied to help mitigate the inevitable cuts in a recession or even cut council tax for the less well off.
Every penny counts these days.
