Acting responsibly

Why do supposedly responsible people like Coun David Levene, member for environmental services, make statements that damn them (1,500 call on City of York Council to bring back bins, September 27)?

Trying to score the usual cheap political point, instead of helping residents with their concerns over the reduction in litter bins, he says opposition councillors should be encouraging the responsible disposal of litter and dog waste.

Surely asking for more litter bins is being constructive about responsible waste disposal. Does this cabinet member think petty politics are more important than serving the public?
