‘Sniping’ again

I SEE that Mr Laverack is at it again, like many others sniping at our hard-working councillors (Letters September 20).

It is quite evident to anyone who knows David Horton that Mr Laverack’s assessment of the man is as accurate as the notorious builder’s estimate.

For Mr Laverack’s information, Coun Horton has a career of an accomplished engineer with capital expenditure in excess of anything Mr Laverack may have done, also his achievements in industrial relations are of the highest.

Plus the fact he has been York’s number one citizen twice as Lord Mayor and served our city with great distinction.

So Mr Laverack, you have been challenged to stand for council, you obviously fit the bill on your own assessment of a councillor.

Have you got the bottle to serve your fellow man/woman?

R S Pearson, Towthorpe Road, Haxby , York.

Planning Notice.

Application has been made by one Mr Crabtree for the siting here of a list of repetitive and loving defences of Mr Laverack. The list will be under the name Scarlet Pimpernel and will attack the letter writer, anyone who challenges his defences and as a bonus any Labour councillor that randomly spring to mind.

The application includes additions ad infinitum as long as someone speaks up in differing or opposing viewpoint regardless of validity on either side.

End of notice.

Buzz

If I needed planning permission for my posts, I wouldn't stand a chance, if York Council had anything to do with it.

Everyone knows that the only schemes that get planning in York are hotels, offices, council offices, student accommodation and football stadiums (the latter by way of a bribe). If it's private housing, you've no chance, and if you dare to speak out against Alexander's politburo, you will be blacklisted with your emails blocked by the council, and your comments removed from the Press website....... freedom of speech still exists outside of domains controlled by the York City Kremlin Council !

Anyone who has founded and run their own businesses has more than enough bottle to attend a few meetings, deliver a few leaflets, write a few letters, tweet on twitter, and have their photograph taken.

Matthew Laverack doesn't need to stand for election to York Council, he already serves this city; employing York people, providing much needed private rented accommodation, providing printing and copying services, providing architectural services, and has built much needed housing.

Any fool can be a councillor, many are !

The real hero's in York are the entrepreneurs like Mr Laverack, who take risks with their own money, not everyone elses.

Coun Horton is a coward, and has clearly gone back on his word.

He said he would not write anything further after attacking Matthew Laverack in his press letter. It's obvious from the language in the letter above, that Horton has written this, and asked his stooge R S Pearson to put his name to it. This is another example of the dishonesty and manipulation that is rife amongst Labour politicians and a sad part of the culture that pervades York's Labour-controlled Council.

Don't make me laugh.
I would argue Laverack has more people who oppose him than actually like him.

You obviously don't know him. don't judge people on the bitter and twisted opinions and prejudices of those who seek to demonise and do down Matthew Laverack.

Those who know him, will tell you he is kind, generous, honest, intelligent, fair, reasonable and an all round good egg.

Take your petty bile and vitriol elsewhere, troll !

Laverack speaks for the silent majority; unfortunately too often and too loudly and without their consent.

With every hysterical post Scarlet Pimp reminds me more and more of Chief Warden Hodges in "Dad's Army" frothing pop-eyed at Capt Mainwaring and screaming impotently "I'll get you one day James Alexander".

And what is with you and your ever more love letters to St Matthew Laverack Mr Pimp?
"...those who seek to demonise Matthew..."
"...he is kind, generous, honest..."

Just get a room the two of you.

Unless...surely not...Mr Pimp and St Matthew are actually - gasp - one and the same person??

You obviously know nothing about James Alexander or Matthew Laverack ?

In terms of Alexander, what you see is what you get - a massive egotistical, attention-seeking, self-publicist - all show and rhetoric but with no substance ! His mantra should be, over-promise and under-deliver !

Matthew says it how it is - no b*llsh*t !

I met the man last week.
I was getting some printing done and he served me.
He couldnt have been more helpful and because the work was to take 30 mins I had a cuppa with him.
I found him informative, approachable and interesting. Our conversation included the present situation regarding affordable housing and the fact that there isnt any being built.
Mr Laverack took pains to fully outline all aspects of what is wrong with the present system and was able to suggest what would improve things.

I concluded that the removal of two councillors who doggedly plough on with luddite tendancies would be the best solution.

Thank you for my printing and thank you for patiently explaining the present impasse.

I know Matthew and yes he gets hot under the collar about things that concern all of us but to accuse him of having no guts is ridiculous. He says what he thinks, which is more than most do, often at personal risk and whether you agree with his views or not it would be a lot better for all of us if our politicians and officers said the same rather than spinning and misleading us all.
I dont always agree with him but at least he tells us things as he sees them and its time others did also

Pimp Pimp Pimp.

I'm loving your loving posts.
Looks like you were granted planning permission after all :D

May I remind you that you've only dissed Horton and Alexander and you've left out Simpson Laing and Merrett.
See me in my office after assembly.
Lacklustre effort.

How long has it been now? A year? Two?
The campaign is going really well I feel. You're really starting to get a lot of support here.

From each other.

No-one dislikes you or regards you as obsessive and tedious and you've never upset or offended anyone.
Your integrity is your case-winning strong point - people respect someone who can make their case maturely and with humility without getting multiple bans.

And your biggest supporter? The guy who backs you up every time? He who's willing to re-say what you've just said, maybe with a bit of bold type or a new tabloid style nickname for someone?
You know him better than anyone. No-one knows him like you. No-one *can* know him like you.

A winning combination.

The campaign is not about winning support. It's about drawing attention to the failure of the council's affordable housing policy, and damage done to private housebuilding in York. It's also about exposing the ineptitude and irresponsibility and those responsible for it.

Those responsible, and their supporters have no defence, so they seek to demonise, discredit and ridicule us with petty namecalling and sarcastic put downs.

We won't go away, and won't be silenced.

Keep trying Buzz, you are as much a failure as those you are trying to defend.

Let me ask you two questions:-

How do you measure any level of success that our campaign achieves ?

How do you measure the success of the council's housing policies ?

I'll give you a clue : the same answer can be given to both........
