In good company
11:35am Thursday 27th September 2012 in Letters By Reader's letter
It is regrettable that no review has appeared in the Press of York Light Opera’s recent production of Stephen Sondheim’s musical comedy Company.
This was a fairly new departure for this talented company as they normally perform in larger venues.
This musical however lends itself to a smaller more intimate setting, and the Arts Studio at 41 Monkgate provided an ideal choice.
Sondheim is undeniably difficult to perform, it needs considerable acting ability and for this young cast it was to their credit that they stretched themselves, working hard and pulling it off in a credible way.
So well done to the whole company including the musicians. It was a superb show and hugely enjoyed by those of us who are Sondheim fans, but rarely get the chance to see his work performed in our area.
