We should be told

My views on the death penalty are well known. However, I do not know the views of Lord Prescott, my opponent in the forthcoming Police Crime and Commissioners elections, despite asking him.

I believe the death penalty should be brought back for police, serial and child killers and murder in furtherance of a robbery. A new category of crime ‘Murder One’. Perhaps he could tell the electorate?

Godfrey Bloom MEP, UKIP candidate, Police Crime and Commissioner for Humberside.

Another reason not to vote for UKIP.

Mr Bloom, since you see the police as a special case, do you advocate the retrun of the death penalty for police officers who kill members of the public?

Why is his writing to a York paper to campaign for a Humberside seat?

Even if people are apathetic about this post I hope they do vote so we don't get a reactionary right winger running the police.

As opposed to a slap on the wrist for bad health and safety and a full pension.

As for Mr Bloom's letter, I really can't wrap my head round why killing a police officer deserves a graver punishment than killing anyone.
Who sets the bar? Is it the thin end of a wedge? How long before more arbitrary groups are added/taken away from the list?

OK Mr Bloom, and in return could you tell us whether if (sky faries forbid) you are elected, will you be giving up your fat EU pay packet which you obviously hate so much, given that both being a MEP and being a Police Commissioner are both full time jobs? Greedy f*t fac*st. (in my personal opinion)

UKIP MEP's are a joke. They have amongst the worst attendence record (according to UKIP founder Dr. Alan Sked) but they still pick up their full allowance.(Telegraph 30th May 2004)

Two of their MEP's have been nicked for fraudulent expenses claims, and remember UKIP is tiny so this is the highest proportion of fraudsters for any party in the European Parliament.

Dr. Sked has advised supporters to vote Tory in future because of UKIP racism

Capital punishment is not UKIP Policy as far as I am aware. But feel free to enlighten the readers if I am wrong. While Mr Bloom rightly speaks out about injustices and unnecessary expense, such as the carbon con I believe he is wrong on this issue in general. He is even more wrong with deciding who's life is of the greater value if you consider the death penalty as a deterrent.
Anyone advocating the death Penalty should read Sid Dearnly's book: 'A Hangman's tale' before they commit to murder by the state. What we should be looking to are genuine life sentences for the worst crimes, including cold blood murder.

For once I'm pleased to read a letter from Mr Bloom. It serves as a good reminder to make sure I vote in the election for the new Police Crime and Commissioner to help ensure that no-one with such extreme views as Mr Bloom is elected.

I have been pleased to read that a large proportion of those commenting on the Death Penalty in the last view days share my view that has no part in a modern society.

Perhaps Mr Bloom will be prepared to back up his policy with a pledge to offer his own life in recompense the first time his policy leads to the legal killing of a person who is later proved to have been incorrectly convicted of a crime they didn't commit.
