Retain memorials

I FULLY support the proposed revamp of the Theatre Royal, having previously contributed to the last upgrade 20 years ago.

At that time benefactors were invited to sponsor auditorium seats. In exchange for a substantial donation, a small plaque was fixed to a seat in memory of a loved individual.

I contributed to remember family members; one who died prematurely of cancer and a small child who had recently been taken by meningitis.

There is no mention in The Press article of what will happen to these memorials when the seating is refigured.

I believe the theatre owners have a duty to ensure these memorials are retained and incorporated into the latest proposals and would welcome an assurance from the Theatre Trust that they will not simply be discarded.
