I HAVE just returned from a very enjoyable evening at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre watching the Jorvik G&S production of HMS Pinafore.

The show is visually and musically sparkling, with plenty of humour, and a talented set of principals, chorus, and orchestra.

Jorvik may only be five years old, but this is the best amateur Gilbert and Sullivan show I’ve ever been to. Try and get to see it before it ends tonight.

Agreed. And I'll be going to "Iolanthe" at Theatre Royal in November, hopefully again at the top end of three generations - the grandchildren enjoyed an evening away from their telly & computer games.
