Where are all our seats?

I WAS in Parliament Street and being over 80 and somewhat handicapped, I was looking for a seat to rest my weary bones for a few moments.

To my surprise I found that all, yes all, the seats had been removed. It happens fairly often that some are removed to enable various events to take place, but never before all of them.

These seats represent a substantial investment and provide a welcome rest for many people, so one is entitled to ask why? Not part of an economy drive to provide funds for a 30 per cent rise for our worthy councillors, by any chance?

Wearily yours.

I have found the same problem on the main concourse at York rail station - most seats have been removed except for those linked to the various catering establishments. Not very helpful when you are waiting for someone to arrive on a train. Can't blame CYC for this one though.
