Games cash waste

THE Olympic Games have finished and, like most people, I like to see the competitors at the top of their game in such a variety of sports performing.

I object though to the astounding amount of money spent, firstly in the facilities and the money spent subsidising the athletes prior to the games.

Secondly, to the Lottery money used for athletes. I would not call athletics a good cause; I would call a hospital that, as it benefits many people not just one person and has a better end result.

If the Games money, reported by some to be in the region of £6billion, had been spent on something more lasting than a two-week period, say on housing, then I think no one would object.

More like £12 billion and rising, Mr Hudson.

And with £14 billion in extra cuts to health, education, and policing set to be announced in the next few months, it's clearer than ever who is footing the bill.
