Call yourself a judge...

SO, according to Judge Scott Wolstenholme (The Press, September 5), the violent attack on a police constable by a drunken yob in York, breaking two bones in the PC’s leg, requiring five hours surgery and being incapable of returning to work for some months is, in his estimation, nothing but a slight misdemeanour.

As I see it, just sentencing him to 200 hours unpaid work, what a farce.

How many of those sentenced to this work ever fulfil it or even turn up? Should this not be classed as GBH with intent, and the attacker put away for a length of time?

Then in the national press we have Judge Bowers saying: “It takes a huge amount of courage to burgle someone’s home, I wouldn’t have the nerve.” No mention of the trauma to the victim.

Where do we get these supposedly educated buffoons, with not one ounce of common sense or worldly acumen?

How much longer do we have to accept these ‘slap-on-the-wrist’ judgements for offenders and devastating result for the victims? What planet are they living on? Not ours, I swear.
