A FEW weeks ago a mysterious box appeared on a lamppost at the end of Heath Close. No one saw it being put up, so the local residents had no opportunity to ask what it was for.

Earlier this week it was seen to be taken off so the question was asked, “What was it for?”

The answer given was that it was monitoring the flow of traffic in the area.

The box was taken off at the same time as the children who attend the local school went back – and at the time when the flow of traffic increased due to the school run.

The question remains, who put it up and what useful purpose will the census serve since it was taken when the flow of traffic was at its lowest?
