Cut their number

SO THE council cash reserves are in crisis (The Press, September 6)? This has been the result of budget overspending and two of the causes would appear to be there in the article.

The report telling of the crisis needed four people to write it.

Corporate finance manager, principle accountant, head of performance and innovation and assistant director for finance asset management and procurement were the titles of these four.

Too many highly paid managers, many with fancy titles, are employed. That is cause one. The other is that there are too many councillors.

As we witness every week, they spend far too much time slagging each other off instead of serving the community.

Why do we need two or three councillors for a single ward when one good efficient representative would easily suffice?
