Life’s tough for young

Debbi Weston’s letter (September 8) paints a sad picture of the job prospects for young people.

I feel so sorry for her daughter, having worked so hard to earn a first-class honours degree. She has a degree, no job and £40,000 debt.

It appears she’s the kind of person who will win out in the end, I certainly hope so. The young lady is one of thousands facing the same situation. I wonder if the younger generation are getting a fair crack of the whip.

Jobs have been exported by the millions and the end of the default retirement age is not going to help young people into work.

If I was young I’d feel badly done by. There’s a long list of things we older people took for granted that are denied the young these days.

There is a term that has been coined for persons in the after-school to late 20's age band at the moment - the Jilted Generation.
