A dull prospect?

I SYMPATHISE with Lynn Jeffries’ call for an army of independent candidates to stand at the next council elections (The Press, September 3).
However, I cannot help but recall WS Gilbert’s lines in Iolanthe: “The prospect of a lot of dull MPs in close proximity, all thinking for themselves, is more than any man can face with equanimity.”
I wonder if the same sentiments might apply to our councillors?
